Why a Water Waste Treatment Plant Uses Stainless Steel

Waste water treatment plants choose stainless steel for its durable, corrosion-resistance and low cost characteristics.

When building, managing and running a water waste treatment plant, there are many things to consider.  Think about what materials to use for the aeration pipes, valves, tanks and transfer pipes.  Consider what material selection for the machinery is corrosive-resistant without adding toxic chemicals to the water.  Factor in what metal fulfills all of these standards including keeping the maintenance and repair costs low compared to other materials.  The answer is stainless steel.

Steel grades 304 and 316 are the two most commonly used grades for waste water treatment processes and water filtering systems.  Other materials were considered in the past but they do not outshine the advantages found in this metal.  For instance, HDPE is a known substance found in plastics throughout the US.  It carries a chemical resistance quality similar to that of steel.  However, it decomposes when exposed to light.  This is a difficult and pricey problem to face in the waste and water treatment industries.

Additionally, these two grades do not have a risk of thinning through usage.  This is important when constructing the pieces.  It frees up your selection options.  You are no longer limited to hefty pieces.  Instead, choose thin, lightweight sections and be confident in knowing they are built from strong stainless steel grades that contain low upkeep expenditures throughout its entire long service life.
