Pulp & Paper
In the United States the Pulp& Paper Industry has generally been concentrated in the North Eastern regions such as New York, Massachusetts,Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Initially Pulp & Paper companies situated themselves near rivers and streams as sources of power and clean water were needed for the manufacturing process, wood was not the original pulp of the industry. In the beginning clothes were beaten to a pulp and poured into molds to make paper at these mills; later, alternative supplies for making pulp came into demand as there was a rag shortage. Inventors found mechanical and chemical methods, such as the use of sulfite that efficiently made paper from wood. Recently, overseas competition has decreased the pulp production in the United States as cheap foreign labor causes prices to continue to decline. National Specialty Alloys material is ideal for the manufacturing process; tight tolerances and corrosion resistance make NSA shafting an easy selection. Our staff is knowledgeable with the standard Pulp & Paper Industry grades and specifications to make purchasing that much easier.
