Food Processing
National Specialty Alloys indirectly deals with the Food Processing Industry substantially; we furnish companies with material for mixers, conveyors, etc. that ultimately end up in food processing. These companies take raw agriculture products such as grains and turn them into food products we eat every day like cereal and bread. Little thought from the everyday person goes into how that food actually gets to our plate, it goes through a number of travels and processes before we see the final result. These processes either decrease or enrich the nutritional value depending on the end product; food processing can improve food circumstances for allergists, diabetics and makes the food less susceptible to early spoilage than unprocessed foods. This is one of the oldest industries as it dates back to prehistoric ages when processing incorporated slaughtering, fermenting, sun drying, salt preservation, and various cooking techniques (roasting, smoking, steaming & oven baking). The Food Processing Industry (like many others) was largely developed to serve military needs such as “ready-meals”, this initial development helped launch the industry into a mass production of food which is cheaper and more convenient. Inexpensive, convenient, mass produced meals results in large profit potential…hence, the rise of the Food Processing Industry.
