305 Stainless Steel Bar

UNS S30500 (Grade 305)

305 stainless steel bar, also known as UNS S30500 and Grade 305, is comprised of 17% to 19% chromium, .12% carbon, 2% maximum manganese, 10% to 13% nickel with traces of phosphorus sulfur and silicon, with the balance being iron. It was designed for maximum formability, exhibiting good strength and corrosion resistance. Grade 305 has the lowest work and strain hardening rates of all the austenitic stainless steels. This low work hardening rate makes cold working one of the design strengths of 305.

Industries that use 305 include:

  • Machine
  • Screw

Products partially or completely constructed of 305 include:

  • Barrels
  • Drawn housings
  • Eyelets
  • Rivets
  • Shells
  • Tank covers
  • Utensils
  • Writing instruments
